Hay harvest on the farm
I have a very busy life and I enjoy work. As a country boy, and farmers son I love to be on the farm. Even if it means hard work. So in-between my regular daily job, the race cars , house renovations and classic cars . I do work on the farm. Now that it has stopped raining we can harvest the hay..

I have been a nurse for over 30 years and by the grace of God saved a few lives. Truth be told , I have not always felt right about many of them as their state was a future of medical interventions. Now , saving a tractor ? I have felt pure joy in every single one of them ! I just purchased a $500 1966 David Brown 770 from a couple at church. Their grandfather passed away years ago. It was sitting in his field for 5 years. The old junker fired up after a few electric wires we twisted and fuel poured everywhere along with two batteries. The hydraulics don't work, the rear wheel wobbles, the other rim is rotted at the valve stem, every oil and filter needs a change. I was thinking of scrapping it. Then I started watching videos like yours and realized I am not the only guy out there that spends $5000 in the value of my time and another $1500 in parts and supplies to restore a $1500 tractor when it's all said and done. Are we fools ? Why do we do this ? I have done this at least 20 times ! Why I ask , Seriously why ???

You have to move over and let him pass if you’re the slower car, but he also needs to give you the right-of-way since you’re ahead of him… Were you ever planning on letting him pass since his car was gaining on you? The GT40 is way more powerful and he was probably waiting for you to do that, at some point, but got too impatient.

I would have to have been in one of the cars and attended the driver briefing to give you a definitive answer, but I believe both cars might have done a better job avoiding one another...The overtaking car should have taken all prudent measures to avoid contacting the slower car... However, in a "gentleman's" race, the driver of the slower car should be aware of any faster, overtaking cars and allow them sufficient space for them to pass, safely without impeding their racing line... To sum it up, both drivers should have apologized to one another for their driving and offer to buy each other a drink! In an actual competition, I believe the slower car should have been shown the blue flag...

I grew up on a dairy/beef farm in the west of Ireland. Perhaps it was me being sensitive but I simply couldn't get over the idea of what we were doing to the animals, the cries of the mother cow when the calf was taken year after year. We had an all in one slaughter facility, more 'humane' than 99.99% of slaughterhouses (although I didn't know it back then) I would still help out with machinery, sowing grass/clover etc. but the things I had to see still haunt me to this day, went vegetarian than vegan at the age of 9 (still am). I went off to university and got my medical degree. My father died about 7 years ago and I got the farm (400ha), at first considered just selling it, but I came to understand the realities a bit more. I transitioned to just crops, potatoes and sometimes barley (in a good year). It's a tough life on a farm and the realities are not shared or known about by many. Family run farms are dying slowly replaced by mega corporations, really sad to see. Great videos, brought back many memories with my father.

After watching the GT's "bumping" of your car and hearing of its later damage on the curb, I wonder if the driver has a lack of awareness of the perimeter dimensions of his car and sometimes makes clearance judgements based on the car he is following. If his car were of the same dimension as yours, the pass may have succeeded without contact. Regardless the actual reasoning (or lack of reasoning) of that driver, he has demonstrated a lack of skill, maturity and situational depth perception. He may also be in the habit of envisioning the racing line as a single line, based on the center line of his own car rather than mentally mapping a "channel lane" around the course. He may well often bump his own shoulders while walking through doorways.

To me, since he swerved into you, it was his fault it happened. However, if anything was at fault it would be the track people for stationing a hay bale in the wrong place and ignoring the hazard it created. In reality, it was an accident waiting to happen. Moreover, it looked like the other driver did hesitate for a half second, then gunned it, but another additional half second, he would have still been behind you.

Depends on the type of event, if it’s non-serious door to door racing then the fault is a bit on both sides in my opinion. Yes, the GT40 was insolent in trying to push that gap that was closing, it’s not the last 15 minutes at Le Mans but also (and no offense meant by this) if you had accounted for the straight line speed difference this could have been avoided. Maybe in all-out professional racing you were in the right for closing the gap/defending (even if you said that was not your intention) but this doesn’t seem to be the case. On the upside the damage looks mostly cosmetic and not severe, both drivers and cars are fine so I’d say live and learn. Nice ride! Edit: I would even say keep the scratch if it comes to that, idk there’s something cool about a buiser racecar that sees use 🤔
